The story of Urban Glow Maintenance Solutions began with the family of its founder, Marcelo Ponce, arriving in Canada as refugees from Chile in 1976. Upon arrival, his grandfather, Carlos Martinez, began working as a dedicated and caring custodian with a mission to serve at the highest level – as his wife and four children depended on it. This mission was instilled in Marcelo, and he began working with his grandfather at the age of 14 up until his post-secondary life.
“Through the teachings of his
grandfather as well as his university
education, EduClean came to be.”

Marcelo’s family background inspired him to start a company that could help immigrants, refugees, single parents and students by providing them with meaningful work. Currently, EduClean employs staff with the vision to provide practical skills, work experience, and personal growth opportunities so that they can excel in life. What started off as Core Values that he learned from his grandfather are now used in the hiring and training processes of his team. In selecting his team, Marcelo chooses enthusiastic and motivated individuals who can live out EduClean’s core values: be honest, take initiative, be responsible, and help out.
